Run the Charge™ app for iPhone and iPad

Save money on your mobile credit card terminal needs! Using Run the Charge™ and Monetra with your own merchant account, you can pay significantly lower rates and fees on credit card transactions you accept compared to the other iOS apps that require that you sign up with their gateway or use their merchant account and have high fees and high per transactions rates.

Run the Charge™ is an independent iOS client for the Monetra payment processing system handling credit card and signature debit card transactions. This app gives you a mobile credit card terminal.

The FREE app works with non-live servers hosted by monetra.com. You can run as many non-live transactions as you want. An in-app purchase upgrades Run the Charge to work with your own Monetra server for live transactions.

In order to use Run the Charge™ for live transactions you must have a valid Monetra installation and a merchant account. Monetra supports pretty much all USA merchant processors and some processors in Canada.

Run the Charge™ and Monetra can save you lots of money compared to the "free" apps out there that require you to process cards using their merchant gateway or using the merchant account that they provide you. Negotiating your own merchant account can result in significantly lower fees and transaction percentages you have to pay compared to the competition.

Run credit card and signature debit card transactions where ever you are. On the door, on the sale floor, at a trade show, or anywhere your iOS device has network connectivity.

Transaction receipts in PDF format can be mailed directly to the customer, with a copy for you. Receipt email can be customized, and you can include your company information directly on the receipt.

Run the Charge™ supports sales, pre authorizations, forced transactions, returns, reversals, void, and pre authorization complete transactions. You can settle inside the app. A log of transactions is kept.

While v1.0 only supports keyed-in data, v1.1 supports the ID Tech iMag and iMag Pro hardware card readers in addition to keyed-in data. All hardware swipe readers will be supported that we can get access to and app updates will be released as new swipe hardware support is added.

Run the Charge™ currently is an iPhone and iPod Touch app only. It also runs on the iPad in the iPhone screen mode. A native iPad app is under development and will be released as a free upgrade to all purchasers.


While the PCI Security Standards Council does not currently validate mobile applications running on general purpose handhelds (smartphones, PDA, etc), Run the Charge™ was developed under guidance from applicable PCI standards, and would pass current requirements that apply to computer based clients. After authorization, account number is only stored in truncated form, showing only the last 4 digits of the account. The whole and complete account number is completely eliminated from all volatile and non-volatile memory and not stored in any logs or databases on the device. All security codes (CVV2/CVVC/CV/etc.) are completely purged and are not stored in any log or database. All communication is also conducted over encrypted channels only using HTTPS protocol. All connections with the Monetra server are over encrypted links. Lastly, any stored login account data is stored encrypted using the iOS keychain.
